“What’s The Time, Clockodile?” is a new hardback book from Little Tiger Press as part of the “My Little World” series. It is a fun book to teach children to tell the time. A clock is incorporated into the book and features ‘clickety-clackerty’ clock hands.
The story follows a day in the life of Little Bear as he wakes up, goes to school, goes swimming and gets ready for bed. At eight stages in the book Little Bear turns to the green crocodile and asks “what’s the time, Clockodile?” Clockodile explains o’clock, half past, quater past, quarter to, 5 past and 25 past. There is a picture of a clock on the left hand side and your child is encouraged to the copy the time using their larger clock.
Digital time is also taught through the book with the help of Robbie Robot. Robbie Robot explains the transition from the hands of the clock to what it looks like on a digital clock.
Telling the time can be a difficult concept to learn, espcially when it extends to learning about quarter to and quarter past. “What’s the time, Clockodile?” incorporates all of the different concepts of telling the time on an analogue and digital clock. Due to this, the book will be used as a teaching resource for many years to come.
Adam is at the very early stages of being able to tell the time. At 3 years old he can recognise o’clock and is beginning to say when it is half past. He particularly likes re-creating the different times on the large clock. “What’s the time, Clockodile?” has enabled Adam’s learning to tell the time in a child friendly way.
“What’s the time, Clockodile?” is retailed at £8.99, is aimed for 3-5 year olds and is available from Amazon and all other good book stores.
