Gift In A Tin Review – Small World Busy Bag

July 20, 2017 by Emma Gadsby Leave a Comment

Whilst walking around this years East Anglian Game and Country Fair I discovered the gift and craft tent. This would usually be Adam’s idea of a nightmare but he was drawn to a train track. This wasn’t any type of train track – it fitted inside a tin which could be taken out and about. Adam’s enthusiasm for the train got me looking at the other tins on display. Instantly we were hooked. Made by Apples To Pears, these Gift In A Tin provide everything you need in a small box to either make a craft or create a small world. I wanted to share with you three tins that Adam fell in love with and have already provided lots of imaginative play.

Farm In A Tin Review

The Farm in a Tin contains everything you need to create your own farm small world.

Inside you will find a felt play mat, farm house, fencing, ducks, horses, trees and plenty of livestock. The items are all painted chunky wooden pieces that stand up easily.

The design on the felt mat gives enough detail for your child to create their own farm yard but also allows space for their creativity.

I must confess that I am usually dubious when something comes in a tin. This is because I usually find the items only fit in the tin once and are impossible to get back in again. I am pleased to say though that all of the items fitted perfectly inside the tin.

Train Set In A Tin Review

The Train Set in a Tin is what got Adam hooked on the Gifts In A Tin in the first place. The tin comes with 6 curved and 6 straight pieces of track. A handy guide inside enables you to make a variety of different tracks.

The set also includes a battery operated train (battery included) and three carriages – a coal truck, passenger truck and a long truck. Just like the other tin sets, the items fit back inside the tin easily. Adam was able to fix the track together himself and didn’t need to follow the instructions (unlike myself).

The Train Set In A Tin was a huge hit on a recent stay. It kept Adam entertained at the breakfast table for ages. However, we would suggest that the train set works best with a cloth underneath it. The train goes so fast that it can move the track on a polished surface.

Fishing Port In A Tin Review

This is my favourite tin – the Fishing Port in A Tin.

The set comes with a printed playmat, wooden shops, a church, lifeboat, lighthouse, ships, crabs and little fish. I placed the set on our Ikea KLIPSK bed tray.

The table is the perfect height to enable Adam to place his legs underneath the tray and work closely on the small world.

Our Apples to Pears Gift In A Tin have provided hours of endless creativity and imaginative play. These small world busy bags have been fantastic to pack on short holidays and keep Adam entertained. I am looking forward to joining all three small worlds together and will no doubt be adding to our Gift In A Tin collection.

Disclaimer: I purchased the Farm and Train Set but were sent the Fishing Port In A Tin from Apples to Pears to review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.
