Rainy Day Activities With Flying Tiger Copenhagen

July 26, 2017 by Emma Gadsby Leave a Comment

Flying Tiger Copenhagen (formerly known as Tiger Stores) is my go to place for arts, crafts, play activities and general day to day items that I didn’t realise I needed until walking into the shop. I can easily spend hours in there and thankfully Norwich has two separate shops to help with my addiction. After looking at the weather report and realising that summer appears to have finished just as the school holidays started, I wanted to find cheap and easy ways to occupy Adam this holiday. Here are our favourite Rainy Day Activities With Flying Tiger Copenhagen.

Rainy Day Activities With Flying Tiger Copenhagen

DIY Birdhouse

This wooden birdhouse enables you to decorate and assemble your own birdhouse ready for the garden. The wooden pieces come in the box laid out flat and you are able to decorate it however you wish.

The birdhouse is self assemble and it doesnt come with any instructions. Luckily Adam has a fantastic problem solving brain and was able to assemble it himself.

Adam opted to use a variety of felt tip pens and Flying Tiger Copenhagen pencil crayons to decorate the birdhouse. He included a rainbow, a garden scene, butterflies and bees, a large smiley faced sun and a field of cows. The activity kept Adam occupied for ages – just look at that face of concentration.

Adam decided he wanted to make the birdhouse for his Nana so he included her name on the base. The activity was a great way to pass a wet morning and Adam proudly gave his creation to Nana as a present.

Malebog Colouring Book and Pencil Crayons

No rainy day activity would be complete without some colouring. Flying Tiger Copenhagen has a great 50 page colouring book. The book includes a handle which makes it easy to take it out and about. Inside the paper is good quality and the colouring pages have a wide range of illustrations to cater for everyone. The pictures are clear with plenty of detail to encourage younger and more experienced children to colour in.

Flying Tiger Copenhagen also has the perfect accompaniment – a set of 36 pencil crayons. These come in a tin which makes storing and transporting the crayons easy. The pencil crayons are triangular shaped which are perfect for little hands to grip. The pack includes a wide spectrum of colours meaning you always find the perfect colour for your picture.

Flying Tiger Copenhagen Light Clay

Last but not least, this was our favourite rainy day activity from Flying Tiger Copenhagen – Light Clay. I had never experienced light clay before and I was dubious about how Adan would cope with it. Sensory Processing Disorder and Autism means that Adam is usually reluctant to play with anything that gets his hands messy. However, the light clay was a huge hit.

Light clay in 5 colours

Although the light clay can be purchased in individual packs, we opted for the five box set. Our colours included yellow, red, blue, green and purple. Adam got struck into the activity straight away. The modeling material has a soft and rubber like texture. It didn’t leave and residue on the table or on our hands.

Together we made a variety of different sculptures including a rainbow, bouncy balls, snails, turtles and a dinosaur. Adam even created this beautiful light clay flower independently.

The self hardening light clay takes up to four hours to dry depending on the thickness of the sculpture. Even when the light clay has dried it is still soft to the touch and not brittle like other clay. Despite creating several models between us we still have plenty of light clay left over for another rainy day.

Flying Tiger Copenhagen has certainly saved our sanity during rainy days this summer. None of the items were expensive either which meant entertaining Adam over several wet days didn’t break the bank. How is it possible to love a shop even more!
