Wheat flakes Tuff Spot

April 23, 2014 by Emma Gadsby Leave a Comment

At the back of the cupboard I found two boxes of out of date Wheat Flakes. In the past I would have just thrown them away. Now my first thought was that I could use them as a wheat flakes tuff spot!

I added a box of animals from Poundland and a variety of utensils to our Tuff Spot Tray (affiliate link) and watched to see how Adam would interact with the equipment.

At first he used the utensils to move the wheat flakes around. He then used them to start to cover his legs with the wheat flakes.

He tried some mark making with his fingers…

…and used the potato masher to squash the wheat flakes down.

It was after all of this that Adam appeared to notice the animals.

He then attempted to use the utensils to put the wheat flakes back into the box.

Note to self. Always tidy up straight away after a play activity. I made the mistake of forgetting about the wheat flakes over night and of course it rained. The next day was hot so the water dried the wheat flakes to the Tuff Spot. It was incredibly tough to scrub off!

Equipment:

* Wheat flakes

* Kitchen utensils

* Animals

Adam was 23 months old.
