Washing Line Fun

March 19, 2014 by Emma Gadsby 5 Comments

Since going live with ‘Adventures of Adam’ the Edwards family has been ill. What with bronchitis (me) and the diarrhoea and vomiting bug (Adam and Dad-dad) we haven’t been a happy family. Adam was extremely poorly. He didn’t move from my lap for three days. My active little boy who never walks but runs was suddenly still – a very strange sight. Fortunately he is now slowly on the mend.

Cabin fever had set in. All the time we have been ill it has been glorious weather. Today was the first day we have managed to get outside in the garden. Typically the weather had turned and it was cold, gloomy and windy. It didn’t stop us though – we just wrapped up warm.

I remembered how last time we were outside Adam loved running in and out of the laundry on the washing line. He would run into a towel, bury his face in it and hold onto the towel until the last moment he reached the other side.

We didn’t have any washing out today so I decided to make Adam his own laundry line.

I got an old, large, bath towel from the garage and cut several strips into it.  Adam was fascinated as to why I was cutting into an old towel and kept stepping on it.  Muddy footprints are optional!

I made sure there was enough towel left to peg to the washing line.

The wind kept the towel moving all of the time.

Adam had great fun.  I lost count how many times he ran back and forward across the garden.

Towards the end he was even weaving in and out of the towel.

Afterwards Adam was exhausted and slept for two hours.

The weather may have seemed rubbish but it was perfect for us!

what a brilliant idea, a great time seems to have been had, and all for the cost of an old towel….who needs expensive toys? (over from country kids)

Home made toys are the best aren’t they Elaine! He has had more use out of it today again so not just a one-hit-wonder!

Thank you. Adam loves being outside so always trying to find different ways for him to play. We will definitely be joining in regularly!
