Adam is currently ill. With a high temperature and an awful cough, Adam hasn’t wanted to leave my side. This is completely different to my usually overactive three year old. Nothing would make Adam happy until he spotted the Tractor Ted Diggers and Dumpers Colouring Book.
Adam has been a fan of Tractor Ted for as long as I can remember. It was the first app we ever downloaded for him and it still is a firm favourite. Tractor Ted was founded in 2002 to create videos for young children, which showed real farm machinery working in the fields. It has grown substantially to now include Tractor Ted Little Farms and a wide range of Tractor Ted merchandise.
Tractor Ted Diggers and Dumpers Colouring Book is a compact sized colouring book. It is the perfect size for little hands. It includes images of 26 tractors, dumper trucks, front loaders, diggers and excuvators. Until discovering Tractor Ted I never knew there were so many modes of farm transportation! The images are large enoguh for little ones to colour in yet include enough detail to ensure the diggers and dumpers are recogniseable.
Adam doesn’t usually choose colouring in activities. However, he was captivated by Tractor Ted. He spent ages selecting the colours and completing several pictures.
That is not all. The colouring book comes with four pages of digger and dumper stickers. These stickers are of actual diggers in action rather than cartoon versions. With four stickers to a page they are big enough for little hands to manipulate.
Whilst Adam was busy completing his Tractor Ted colouring in book I found the perfect accompaniment – The Tractor Ted Big Machines DVD. Tractor Ted takes you on a tour of a working farm. He explores the big machines that are harvesting the wheat. We got to see cement mixers, diggers and loaders building a new barn to store the grain in. It is no exaggeration when it says this DVD is dedicated to big machines – they are huge! The DVD lasts for 40 minutes and captured Adam’s attention throughout.
Despite the fact we live in the countryside Adam’s typical experience of a tractor is seeing them drive along the road. He rarely sees them in a field let alone in action. The DVD gave an insight to both Adam and myself about the workings of big machines.
The Tractor Ted colouring book would make a great addition to a Busy Bag suitable for long car journeys. The book is a great size to fit on a childs lap. The Big Machines DVD would make a great gift for any farm loving little one or as an educational aid for a child learning about farm life.
