The activity today ended up as three activities due to the resources around us and Dad-dad being home. Activity 1 I moved the Tuff Spot into the middle of the grass. The water around the edge of the Tuff Spot Tray (affiliate link) had frozen.
Using wooden spoons Adam and Dad-dad hit the ice until it had broken up.
Activity 2 The cornflakes from Day 56 were still on the grass and had frozen in the frost. Dad-dad kept flicking the cornflakes up in the air using his spoon.
Adam attempted to get his own back by doing the same but couldn’t get any height to his cornflakes. Activity three Whilst all of this was going on I quickly set up the activity. I poured the Smash into a mixing bowl and placed a variety of containers in the Tuff Spot.
At first Adam used the wooden spoon to experiment with the Smash.
He placed the Smash in the funnel and then into different containers. He didn’t mind at all when it covered his welly boot. He seemed to prefer using the small scoops and enjoyed covering his legs.
After a while I placed a bowl of warm water in the Tuff Spot. We tried to demonstrate how Adam could use the little scoops to transfer the water into the Smash. He had other plans though and poured the little scoops of water over himself.
We used the water to mix with the Smash which formed a consistency like playdough. It was malleable and Adam even held it. Thinking back to Day 4 I never thought Adam would reach this stage! He was impressed however when Dad-dad squashed the Smash dough into his fingers.
Adam did find a further use for Smash-dough-balls. He could ‘transport’ them from one container to another.
