Remote Control Car Painting Tuff Spot

April 1, 2015 by Emma Edwards 1 Comment

Today we created an R is for Remote Control Car Painting Tuff Spot. This activity is part of our Tuff Spot A-Z Challenge. The best thing about this activity – it is mess free!

I wanted a way that Adam could paint with his remote control cars in the Tuff Spot. However, I didn’t want to get the cars to get covered in paint and require washing afterwards. I realised that I could use our DIY Clear Plastic Tuff Spot Mat as a protective barrier between the paint and the cars. Check our other DIY Tuff Spot Mats.

I squirted various colours of paint around our blue Tuff Spot (affiliate link). On top I placed our DIY Clear Plastic Tuff Spot Mat. I would advise leaving a gap around the edge of the Tuff Spot to ensure that the paint doesn’t squirt out of the side. I gave Adam his JCB Remote Control Dumptruck (affiliate link) and demonstrated how he could move the JCB around the Tuff Spot to create track marks in the paint. Adam was fascinated that no paint went on the wheels and loved the marks that the tyres created.

It wasn’t long before Adam’s other remote control car joined in with the painting. We got to compare the different tracks that each vehicle left.

Whenever we have used cars in our play Adam has never been allowed to use his VTech Toot-Toot Drivers Cars (affiliate link) as they contain batteries. He was over the moon when I explained they could be used in this activity because they wouldn’t get covered in paint. Adam was certainly one happy boy.

Adam also discovered that he could make his own marks in the paint and not get his hands messy. Car painting and mark making all in one activity and no mess!

Clearing away was simple. I peeled away the clear plastic Tuff Spot mat and placed it in the shower. I also transferred the Tuff Spot to the shower and gave both items a quick clean. Within three minutes the entire activity had been cleared away. Painting and no mess – perfect!
