Pregnancy Sickness Support needs your help!

November 13, 2014 by Emma Gadsby Leave a Comment

I have written many times on the blog about my Hyperemesis Gravidarum hell. Without the help from Pregnancy Sickness Support I would not be able to consider having another child. However, Pregnancy Sickness Support is in desperate need of money in order to continue the amazing work the charity does.

There are two ways you can help Pregnancy Sickness Support with just a few clicks of your mouse. Two organisations are giving small charities the opportunity to “win” money.

Way to help number 1

Ocean Finance is giving £5,000 to one small charity as part of their #WinTheTin campaign. The top 20 charities with the most nominations by 21st November will make the final shortlist for the prize.

To get Pregnancy Sickness Support into the next round all you need to do is complete a short nomination form. You complete the statement “I am nominating this charity because…” in 100 words or less. Here are a few ideas why to nominate Pregnancy Sickness Support:

* It is the only UK based charity that supports women suffering from pregnancy sickness.

* The charity runs a national support network for women suffering Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy and Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

* Pregnancy Sickness Support has a help line to give information and support.

* Pregnancy Sickness Support has an online Forum which is run by and administrated by registered and trained PSS volunteers.

* The charity provides resources & information to inform and educate doctors and health care professionals about Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

* The charity encourages further research into the condition, it’s impact and its treatments.

Way to help number 2

eBay have kicked off the holiday season and announced the return of the ‘My Favourite Charity’campaign. Throughout November and December they are counting the number of eBay users who select their favourite charity. There are cash prizes on offer for the top charities. We could win £7,000!

I was sceptical at first. Would it mean filling out lots of forms or answering lots of questions? NO. I timed the process – it took 50 seconds! In less than a minute I had added an extra vote for Pregnancy Sickness Support to win £7,000.

How to favourite banner

Here is how:

Step 1: Go to www.ebay.co.uk/charity and click on “Find a charity to support”. This is found just under the big eBay banner on the right hand side.

Step 2: Type Pregnancy Sickness Support into the Search Charity box.

Step 3: View your charity profile and click on “Save as favourite”

Step 4: The heart icon will change to “My Favourite”

It took me longer to write down the process than to actually complete it.

You can “favourite” Pregnancy Sickness Support from the 1st November to the 31st December 2014. The top 3 charities with the most favourites will win grants from PayPal Giving Fund.

You may be wondering what it means to have a “favourite” charity on eBay. The website states: “eBay customers are able to choose which charities they support by making a charity a favourite within their eBay profile. This means when they buy or sell on eBay they will be asked to make a donation or donate a percentage of the sale of their items. There is no cost to the charity for eBay customers making them a favourite.”
