Pipe Cleaner Posting

July 25, 2014 by Emma Gadsby 2 Comments

For the past week or so we have been homeless during the day due to having work done to our roof.  As a result, we have spent a lot of time round Nana’s house – which usually entails Adam doing several laps of Nana’s garden pushing his little car.

With our mini heat wave we have been attempting to get Adam to cool down in the house.  It is a difficult task to get my 100 mile a hour son to slow down.  However, posting pipe cleaners worked a treat.

Adventures of Adam ways to play with pipe cleaners

Using a recycled 2 litre clear bottle, Adam posted the green pipe cleaners through the hole at the top.  It was easier said than done – look at the concentration on his face!

Adam concentrated for ages and his ability to post the pipe cleaners improved – even when they were bent.  Getting the pipe cleaners out was fun but easier than I expected.  Adam repeated the activity again and again – perfect for cooling down.

I had the cut up pool noodles at Nana’s house (activity to follow) so we attempted to thread the pool noodles onto the pipe cleaner.  If I held the pipe cleaner upright and Adam threaded the pool noodles onto it they would wobble around.  It looked like an octopus leg!

As posting pipe cleaners doesnt require any preparation, is smell free and doesn’t create any mess it is a perfect HG friendly play activity.
