Pea Finger Football

June 12, 2014 by Emma Gadsby 2 Comments

In homage to the World Cup starting today – and for me becoming a football widow for the next few weeks – I created a pea finger football activity for Adam.

Adventures of Adam pea finger football

I placed some frozen peas into a zip-loc bag and made goal posts from electrical tape.  Now I know there should be two goal posts but the bag looked empty with only two.  Call it creative license!

Adventures of Adam fine motor skills

I sellotaped the zip-loc bag to our porch window and demonstrated how Adam could push the peas around with his fingers.  He got the idea straight away and immediately moved the peas to a goal post.

Adventures of Adam counting peas

Adam has recently discovered the ability to count.  You can imagine he had great fun counting the peas as he moved them around.

Adventures of Adam squashing peas

It was a hot day so the peas defrosted very quickly. This meant when Adam pushed the peas to move them, the peas popped.  Adam loved popping the peas.  Two activities for the price of one!

Could you somehow make the goals the other way up.. so that when the pea was in the goal it didn’t fall down again?

Good idea – although it was a last minute decision to attach it to the window.

Emma and Adam

During a difficult pregnancy suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) Emma vowed to make every day an adventure once she had recovered. Adventures of Adam is the outcome of completing a 100 day play challenge with Adam as part of that promise. Emma has a section dedicated to HG friendly play activities so that Mums can still be part of their children’s play whilst they are ill.
