Over the next four weeks we ‘Counting down to Christmas’ with fellow European bloggers. For the next four Monday’s we shall post a related Christmas activity based on the weeks theme. Today’s theme is Christmas Paper Crafts and we have made a paper plate Christmas tree. It is toddler friendly too!
Adam has recently found a love of painting. He has gone from the boy who hated any paint on him at all to asking to paint with his hands. In no time at all he managed to paint 10 paper paints green.
Using strips of Christmas paper he decorated 7 of the green paints. As the paint was still wet there was no need to glue to strips.
On the remaining three paper plates he decorated them using a variety of coloured paint. It would have been better to wait until the green paint had dried completely but Adam and I were impatient!
I gave Adam a variety of Christmas foam stickers and stars to decorate each plate how he wanted.
I had made the mistake of telling Adam that the plates would be put onto the wall to create a Christmas tree. He couldn’t wait until the paint had dried so we ended up going out for the afternoon. When we returned most of the paint and dried enough to create our paper plate Christmas tree.
At the bottom of our living room wall I placed a piece of coloured card which I had decorated with penguin Duck Tape and star stickers. I then attached the paper plates in a triangle formation with blue tac. At the top of our paper plate Christmas tree I placed a star shaped bowl purchased from Tesco.
We love our toddler made paper plate Christmas tree and it will certainly stay up during the festive season.
Adam was 2 years and 6 months old.
Our next Counting Down To Christmas post will be on Monday 1st December when the theme will be Christmas Handmade Gifts.
