Neon Tuff Spot

March 26, 2015 by Emma Gadsby 1 Comment

After our recent Six Neon Paint Activities post we have resisted the urge to play get out the neon paint. However as today is the letter N in our Tuff Spot A-Z Challenge we couldn’t hold back any longer. N just had to be for Neon Tuff Spot.

In the Tuff Spot I placed our Neon Paint, Glow Sticks, an Ikea cutlery stand and neon disposable plastic shot cups (affiliate link). I also created some blue neon coloured Alphabet Pasta using the same method as when we created our Alphabet Pasta Rainbow Tuff Spot. We turned off the lights, turned on our Handheld Blacklight Torch (affiliate link) and let the fun begin.

As we have been trying out different methods to paint I made Glow Stick paint brushes. These were created by using an elastic band to secure a cotton wool ball to the end of a Glow Stick.

Adam thoroughly enjoyed painting with the Glow Sticks paint brush. He experimented with each neon colour in turn by painting on one area on the Tuff Spot. He then used his fingers and another glow stick to mark make within the paint.

He then moved onto the neon Alphabet pasta. He searched for individual letters in the hope of finding the letters in his name.

We spent ages pushing the glow sticks into the holes of the Ikea cutlery stand. Adam loved the noise it created when he poured the neon Alphabet pasta into the stand.

It was a perfect night time activity just before bed. However – note to self: Always clear away an activity after play. I decided to wait until morning to clear away the Tuff Spot. Silly mistake. The paint was so hard to get off the next day! One day I will learn.
