I like to Squeak Review

December 16, 2015 by Emma Gadsby Leave a Comment

“I Like To Squeak. How Do You Speak?” is a new hardback book from the “My Little World” series by Little Tiger Kids. It is a noisy lift-the-flap book written by Jonathan Litton and illustrated by Fhiona Galloway.

The book is about a curious little mouse who travels through the farm and discovers that not all animals squeak. Each animal has a lift-the-flap page which reveals the sound that the animal makes.

We love the style of the rhyming text. As it is repetitive Adam likes to join in. I wish I had filmed Adams reaction when he first saw the book. He was shocked when the animals made a sound.

The book is visually engaging with clear and colourful pictures of the farm animals. Adam’s favourite page is when mouse visits the cow. Its hard to remember Adam used to be scared of the noise of cows when he was younger!

At first I found it tricky to get the animals to make a noise when I lifted the flap. I originally thought the book was faulty until I realised there was a knack for getting the sounds to work. The book had to be held in a certain position for it to make a noise. Having said that, once we had read the book several times over the course of the week the pages worked better.

“I Like To Squeak. How Do You Speak?” would make an ideal gift for a little one. The book is aimed at 3-5 year olds although in my personal opinion it would be ideal for a younger child who is discovering farm animals and their sounds for the first time.

“I Like To Squeak” is available from the Little Tiger Kids website, all good book shops and Amazon.
