Easy To Make Water Bombs

September 26, 2014 by Emma Gadsby Leave a Comment

We were very excited to get our hands on a copy of 101 Kids Activities That Are The Bestest Funnest Ever! by Holly Homer and Rachel Miller. We are huge fans of their Kids Activities Blog and knew the book would be amazing. The book promises “time-tested, exciting activities to keep your children laughing and learning for the whole day, every day” and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Over the summer the first activity we tried was how to make a water bomb. With hot days and three children to entertain it seemed the perfect activity. It was cheap too. Using a pack of 20 sponges bought from PoundLand and elastic bands we made several water bombs in no time at all.

We experimented cutting the sponges in various ways to create different sized water bombs. Changing the position of the coloured sponge pieces created different patterns.

Time for a water fight!! The sponges quickly soaked up water and didn’t hurt when they hit you. They were also a perfect size for all ages of children.

Adam preferred collecting up the water bombs and hiding them from his big cousin.

After the water bomb fight Stevie and I attempted some water bomb target practise. It was certainly harder than it looked.

The great thing about the 101 Kids Activities book is that it is geared towards all ages. It gives suggestions on how to alter each activity for the younger and older child. Not only is the book great for helping entertain children across different age ranges but also means that we can repeat activities over time and achieve different outcomes. The book is certainly a must buy for all families!

Emma and Adam

During a difficult pregnancy suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) Emma vowed to make every day an adventure once she had recovered. Adventures of Adam is the outcome of completing a 100 day play challenge with Adam as part of that promise. Emma has a section dedicated to HG friendly play activities so that Mums can still be part of their children’s play whilst they are ill.
