Easter Tuff Spot

March 13, 2015 by Emma Edwards 4 Comments

Day 5 of our Tuff Spot A-Z Challenge means the letter E. It is the perfect time of year to create an Easter Tuff Spot. It doesn’t seem five minutes ago we made our Plastic Egg Guttering activity last year!

Our Easter Tuff Spot gave us the ideal opportunity to make our own artificial grass mat. The greengrocers fake grass turf was fairly easy to create from the 1m x 1m grass I purchased from Ebay. I took our Blue Tuff Spot (affiliate link) and artificial grass outside and cut the mat to fit inside the Tuff Spot. It was quite a messy procedure so I’m glad I did it outside. Within a few moments I had an artificial grass mat that we can reuse for many future Tuff Spot activities.

Our Easter Tuff Spot contained the following (clockwise – contains affiliate links):

Adventures of Adam Easter Tuff Spot

* A Wooden Tree Stand from Baker Ross. I painted it with green acrylic paint. Adam could hang our Mini Wooden Easter Decorations from it.

* A field of pom-pom spring lambs. These were purchased from PoundLand

* A rabbit tin from Marks and Spencer, a rabbit toy that Nana made for Adam last Easter and a small bird house

* Another Wooden Tree Stand from Baker Ross (two in a pack) and more wooden Easter decorations

* An Easter basket which contained plastic Easter eggs that held small chicks inside.

* A wooden pen for the chicks

* An egg carton containing three chicks in their eggs that Nana crocheted

* A hen house purchased last year from Tesco along with a hen egg timer and a chirping chick both from Poundland

* In the middle of the Tuff Spot are two egg cartons with more plastic eggs with chicks inside

Adventures of Adam Hand made Easter chicks

Adam headed straight for the crotched chicks that Nana created for his first Easter. He took each one out of their egg and kissed each one in turn.

Adventures of Adam Playing with plastic Easter eggs

He then found the plastic Easter eggs. When playing with them he realised they opened and discovered a chick was inside. Adam spent ages opening each egg and counting how many chicks he found.

Adventures of Adam Decorating an Easter tree

The tree and small wooden Easter decorations were fantastic for developing Adams fine motor skills. He spent ages hooking each character onto the tree and admiring his handy work.

Adventures of Adam Pom pom lambs

Adam was convinced the pom pom sheep were all Timmy from Timmy Time. He made each one jump over the fence and said “hello Timmy” to each one.

The great thing about our Easter Tuff Spot is that Adam is able to return to it several times and he discovers a new item to play with each visit.

Welcome!

Emma and Adam

During a difficult pregnancy suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) Emma vowed to make every day an adventure once she had recovered. Adventures of Adam is the outcome of completing a 100 day play challenge with Adam as part of that promise. Emma has a section dedicated to HG friendly play activities so that Mums can still be part of their children’s play whilst they are ill.
