I have an exciting announcement today. As you will know I suffered from Hyperemesis Gravidarum during my pregnancy with Adam and have volunteered for the Pregnancy Sickness Support Charity since Adam was 7 weeks old. During my time as a volunteer I produced the HG Awareness Day video and the HG Survivors Annual – both of which can be viewed on the Nine Months Of blog. I also helped set up and administer the PSS Forum. Well… my announcement is that Pregnancy Sickness Support have asked me to become a trustee for the charity. To be honest, I am still in shock and the news hasn’t yet sunk in. I am honoured to be working with an amazing team and to be making a difference to women suffering from pregnancy sickness.
It seems fitting then that today’s activity is a HG friendly one. Although Adam and I went outside, the activity can certainly be completed inside.
Setting up the activity was quick. I got a packet of pipe cleaners and, as Adam was exploring their texture, I started to coil the individual pipe cleaners around my fingers.
Within a couple of minutes I had completed the whole pack. My first attempts at the coiled pipe cleaners were too loose. Wrapping the ends inside the coil made it stay together better.
Adam had great fun using the sticks to transfer the pipe cleaners from one container to another.
He preferred using the sticks rather than the tongs. We spent ages looking for particular colours and counting how many pipe cleaners he could get onto one stick.
However, Adam’s favourite part appeared to be trying to untangle the coils!
