I have a confession. I have always struggled with science. This came as a huge blow as my childhood dream was to be a Marine Biologist – although a severe allergy to fish didn’t help either! As a primary school teacher I was always on the look out for ways to make science accessible, easy to understand and fun. When Carla from Preschool Powol Packets asked me to review her Christmas Science Projects for Kids eBook I jumped at the chance.
Did you know you can make a pine cone close back up? I must admit I didn’t! This eBook is perfect for your little scientists as it has 25 science activities linked to all things Christmas. Each experiment has a supply list, instructions how to complete the activity and extension ideas. This means there are several experiments within each activity and the all important “A Little Science” section, to explain to the adult, the science behind the experiment. I couldn’t believe how much I learnt!
My immediate reaction when I heard about the book was that the experiments would require lots of expensive equipment. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The experiments use items found around the house and garden or that you would be buying for the Christmas season.
The book gives ideas on how to make gift wrap paper or hand made cards using pine needles and a hammer, how to make fizzing grape juice and how to make poinsettia plants last longer. You will also be experimenting with fruit, candles, sugar, candy cane and Christmas fairy lights. The book also gives instructions how to make your own Christmas Lights Lava Lamp.
You can purchase your own copy of the 25 Christmas Science Projects for Kids eBook via Preschool Powol Packets or through Amazon Kindle.
