I was undecided what do to for the letter C in our Tuff Spot A-Z Challenge. Should I revisit our Cornflake Tuff Spot as Adam thoroughly enjoyed it a year ago, explore Cornflour gloop again or create a Cityscape. Unfortunately our masking tape had dried out so wouldn’t stick to our Tuff Spot, therefore the Cityscape road was out of the question. As I was searching through our play resources I found a bucket of chalk I had purchased from PoundLand. I remembered a previous class used to love mark making on our Tuff Spot. Adam loved mark making with chalk on the pavement and walls so I quickly changed our plans and we created a Chalk Tuff Spot.
Whether it was our Tuff Spot or our type of chalk, unfortunately the marks were not very clear. It didn’t seem to deter Adam though. He loved mark making on the Tuff Spot, even more so when I showed him he could make the marks disappear by wiping the chalk marks with a baby wipe!
I added our Early Learning Centre My First Chalks to the collection but this did not improve the marks. I then cellotaped three sheets of black paper to the Tuff Spot. Although this was easier to mark make on and the chalk colours were clearer Adam still preferred to mark make on the Tuff Spot. Adam is obviously taking this Tuff Spot Challenge seriously!
