Brilliance in Blogging Finalist

May 23, 2014 by Emma Edwards 26 Comments

Wow! How is this possible?

Adventures of Adam Brilliance in Blogging

Adventures of Adam is a 2014 Brilliance in Blogging FINALIST! How can our little blog have made it this far to be amongst so many amazing bloggers?!  It has only been a few weeks since Adventures of Adam went live yet we are a BiBs Finalist!

Adventures of Adam Brilliance in Blogging

Don’t worry – I am not asking you to vote again. The final stage is down to the judges!

Becoming a BiBs Finalist has topped off an amazing busy few weeks. Last week was Hyperemesis Gravidarum Awareness Day and through several fundraising events Pregnancy Sickness Support raised approximately £2,000 and counting. Thank you to:

Spewing Mummy

GhostwriterMummy

Me, The Man And The Baby

and

Diary of a Charity Chick

for blogging about Hyperemesis and sharing the awareness day video. Pregnancy Sickness Support is the only UK based charity supporting women with debilitating sickness in pregnancy.

This weekend had been planned as my Pregnancy Sickness Support fundraising challenge by completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. Unfortunately due to two bouts of bronchitis we have postponed the challenge until 6th September. Instead we are off on a family holiday to Yorkshire and are hoping to attempt one peak with Adam. I will therefore be internet free for several days. I shall let you know how I cope with no internet or technology! What a better way of celebrating becoming a BiBs finalist than going on holiday!

I am going to use this opportunity to say thank you to a few people. Imagine me in an Oscar style dress rather than currently sitting in my pjs!

Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I never believed our blog was old enough(or well known enough?) to be noticed so thank you for proving me wrong. I didn’t imagine I would be shortlisted let alone become a finalist and that is all down to everyone taking the time to vote. I wonder if one day it will sink in!

Thank you to my Mum and Step-Dad for having confidence in me and persuading me to turn our 100 day play challenge into a blog. Little did we ever imagine it would take off like this!

Thank you to Katrina and Amanda my two fellow HG and blogging friends who have encouraged me every step of the way. I’m really looking forward to celebrating with you both at BritMums Live and flying the flag for HGers!

I also want to thank the women who are my inspiration when creating new play activities – every HG sufferer and survivor. I made a promise to myself when I was in the throes of HG that, when it was over, I would make each day an adventure. With HG we go through so many desperate times to bring our children into the world – thinking of you all.

Thank you to my amazing husband. He puts up with me ‘nerding’ on my laptop… ok make that two laptops and an ipod – at the same time! He affectionately calls me his ‘little I.T geek’.

Last but not least I want to thank this little guy:

Adventures of Adam Thank you

Thank you to my amazing son for making every day an adventure.

Thank you all. Sorry for not responding sooner but we are back from our holiday. Bad timing – become a BiBs finalist and then disappear on holiday! It was a great way to celebrate though. The news still hasn’t sunk in yet and I don’t think it will do.

Welcome!

Emma and Adam

During a difficult pregnancy suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) Emma vowed to make every day an adventure once she had recovered. Adventures of Adam is the outcome of completing a 100 day play challenge with Adam as part of that promise. Emma has a section dedicated to HG friendly play activities so that Mums can still be part of their children’s play whilst they are ill.
