As it is coming up to Adam’s fourth birthday we are thinking about decorating his room. Poor Adam has never had a bedroom that has been decorated just for him. When we moved into our house nearly 6 years ago we redecorated every room. When it came to what is now Adam’s bedroom we had ran out of enthusiasm. The room was green and had a nursery inspired border around it. We ripped off the border and repainted the room in practically the same colour green – after all my husband is a Norwich City Football Club supporter.
The idea had been to redecorate Adam’s room when I was pregnant. Creating a wonderful nursery is usually on the top of every new parents to do list. However, for us, Hyperemesis Gravidarum got in the way. I could barely sit up during my pregnancy let alone contemplate painting a room. My husband had become my full time carer so certainly didn’t have the energy to change the room around. The green painted room remained.
In the past four years there have been a few additions to change the look of Adams room. Being an alphabet mad boy he requested his Alphablock cards to be displayed. He also has pictures his cousin created for him, his Winnie The Pooh inspired letters, a World Map and of course a signed photo of the Norwich City Football team. Apart from those few additions, Adam has never had a room designed around his likes.
Our attention has turned to boys bedroom ideas. We want to create a bedroom theme that Adam loves but that will also not distract him from sleeping. As he has Sensory Processing Disorder, his sleep can be easily affected. We have to be sure that his room is free of distractions, light or clutter. Therefore we are looking for a minimalist room with plenty of hidden storage to maxamise the space.
It wouldn’t be Adam’s bedroom without having some type of transport themed item. In an ideal world he would have a car shaped bed with a car track mapped across the bedroom wall. However, I truly believe Adam would never sleep. Instead we are looking into car shaped lights, a transport themed clock and a car themed bed linen.
How would you decorate your boys bedroom?

Awww his room looks really sweet as it is! But I could definitely picture some sort of roads and cars in there too! Ethan’s room has a jungle theme, but we may be going for a change soon too!
