Since Adam was little, one area we have struggled with is getting him to eat. This has become more apparent since he was diagnosed with ASD and SPD. Not only does Aam follow a limited diet but he is reluctant to come to the table and prefers eating with his fingers whilst still on the go. Adams differences are noticeable when having friends over to eat or eating at parties.
We recently made a breakthrough with getting Adam to brush his teeth. This was because of a new Minions Kids Interactive Battery Brush from Colgate. Adam was immediately drawn to his favourite minion characters giving him instructions throughout the two minute brushing process. Take a look at our Instagram to see the toothbrush in action.
With another obstacle cleared I decided to tackle Adams reluctance to eat. When Arthur Price asked if we wanted to test out their new Despicable Me range I knew I had found the perfect tools to help. Could the minions help Adam brush his teeth and eat?
Arthur Price has always been our go to company for cutlery. We received the Llewelyn-Bowen Echo range for our wedding present as Arthur Price is synonymous with high quality products. Founded in 1902, the family owned business supplies Royal families, Heads of State and finest hotels.
Up until now we had been unable to find a cutlery set that is both child friendly, practical and which will stand the test of time. Adam loves the idea of using my knife and fork but these are simply too big for his hands. We have gone through several cutlery plastic sets but Adam is unable to cut his food with them independently.
Arthur Price’s Despicable Me set is different. Made of 18/10 finest stainless steel, the four piece collection is suitable for children over 3 years old and comes with a 15 year guarantee. We tested out the Expressions set which comprised of a knife, fork, spoon and teaspoon featuring Kevin, Stuart and Bob and Minion sayings at the bottom of each piece. The cutlery is light weight and the perfect size for Adam. There is also an alternative cutlery set called the “Sea Of Minions.” Both sets come in a wonderful presentation box that would make a perfect gift.
To further tempt Adam to eat, we also have the 3 piece “Sea Of Minions” children’s set. This three piece bone china set includes a mug, plate and bowl. These are available separately, or as a two or three piece breakfast set. The items are dishwasher safe – a must in our household.
So far, the minion magic has worked. Adam has voluntarily eaten his dinner and breakfast at the table for the past two days and requested his Minion items each time. I wonder if Despicable Me and Arthur Price have helped us overcome this huge barrier for Adam!
